Studying Light and the Shift into Frequency
In 2020, my transition into sound design was born from a search for sanctuary. Finding myself burnt out and in need of a new outlet, I traded my camera for a field recorder and my darkroom for Ableton Live. I returned to my roots as a percussionist and began a deep dive into sound design and melodic improvisation.
Through the success of EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) in my own journey, I discovered the profound grounding power of bilateral stimulation. However, I found a significant gap between the clinical tools available at the time and the immersive environments my nervous system craved.
I realized that light and sound are both waves on a spectrum, and both possess the power to regulate our internal state. I began designing these "Rooms" to fill the gap in my own toolbox—merging the rhythmic science of bilateral music with the literal textures of the natural world.

Behind the Sound
I found my first passion within photography. Culminating in a BFA, I spent my formative years learning how to capture the world in a cathartic way. I fell in love with the study of light—how it preserved the environment, how it shifted through time, and how it could freeze a specific moment of peace.

A Clinical Foundation
Audio Borealix goes beyond ambient music; it is a functional tool for regulation. My work is informed by:
-
EMDR Frameworks: Utilizing bilateral stimulation to facilitate rhythmic grounding for the nervous system.
-
Sound Therapy: Applying harmonic principles and specific frequency ranges to encourage neural ease.
-
Percussive Cadence: Leveraging my background in concert percussion to create intentional, human-created rhythms that mirror natural respiratory cycles.
Precision in the Field and Studio
To ensure the highest fidelity playback experience, I record at 24-bit/96kHz. This preserves the full dynamic range of the environment, capturing everything from the natural "Brown Noise" of the Oregon Coast to the delicate textures of morning songbirds.
In the studio, I use the Arturia MiniFreak to design unique synth voices that act as grounding anchors within the field recordings. Every sound is intentional; every room is hand-sculpted.

If you are navigating the world as a highly sensitive individual, I invite you to step into these rooms and take a deep breath.
